From Dirt to Dignity — Our First Home in El Salvador

I just got back from El Salvador — where we were able to take a family out of the dirt and into a safe, sanitary home.

For years, they slept on a dirt floor. Surrounded by moisture, insects, and the constant fear of flooding that could wash everything away.

But this week, that changed.

We built a beautiful cinder block and concrete home for the Flores family — Gladys, Giovani, Brian, and Christopher. Strong. Secure. Safe from the heavy rains and flooding that have destroyed homes in their area before.

Even the local crew said they were excited to build such a beautiful home.

The double-locking front door gives this family peace of mind and protection — something they’ve never truly had.

Beyond the build:

While in Santa Ana, I had the privilege of preaching at Open Door Church — and during that service, a young man gave his heart to God.

Moments like that remind us: this work isn’t just about houses. It’s about hearts, too.

Our growing connection with missionary Kenton Moody is opening new doors — new families to meet, new needs to see, and years of ministry ahead. It’s exciting to watch how God is expanding this work both physically and spiritually across El Salvador.

Why this matters:

  • The Flores family now lives in a home that won’t be swept away by flooding.
  • Their boys can sleep safely and stay healthy.
  • Mom and Dad can focus on work and school instead of survival.
  • Hope & Horizons has now officially built its first home in El Salvador.
  • And God is already at work opening hearts and new opportunities.

Thank you for partnering with us.

Every home, every trip, and every transformed life reminds us why we do this — because hope still builds.
